The new Panasonic SW-5583 Blu-ray drive is designed with new SATA technology to speed up data transfer rates on large files ranging from 25-50 GB. The new Blu-ray writable (BD-R) and Blu-ray re-writeable (BD-RE) 25GB single layer and 50GB double layer Blu-ray discs allow for storage of data, HD movies and more. Panasonic Blu-ray drives give the end user backwards compatibility with all DVD formats including Dual Layer DVD @ 8x, Double Layer DVD @ 8x, DVD+R @ 16x, and DVD-R @ 16x as well as CD-R @ 40x.
